The Greater San Diego area has long been known for its famous trolleys and for the San Diego Zoo, but many people do not realize that the downtown San Diego area is actually comprised of eight different neighborhoods. Each of these neighborhoods has its own distinctive flair, which means it is important for visitors as well as those moving to the San Diego area to learn more about each of them.  This way, each neighborhood in downtown San Diego can each be enjoyed and appreciated for what it has to offer.  

 

The 8 Neighborhoods of San Diego: At a Glance

 

While condominiums and apartments can be found throughout the entire downtown San Diego area, the overall ambience of each of the area's eight neighborhoods is quite different. These neighborhoods include: 

  • Columbia District - up-and-coming neighborhood comprised primarily of commercial property
