Core District

The aptly named Core District is considered to be the epicenter of downtown San Diego, as this area serves as the hub for many local businesses, offices and government buildings.

A thriving arts scene can also be found here, as Broadway San Diego presents nationally touring Broadway shows throughout the year at the San Diego Civic Theatre, which also hosts performances from the San Diego Opera and California Ballet. Entrancing architecture in the Spanish Baroque-style circa 1924 draws passersby to the Balboa Theatre, a former movie theatre that now hosts concerts and live performances. The San Diego Symphony Orchestra calls the Copley Symphony Hall home and performs there throughout the year. The House of Blues, a multi-story music hall with a full-service restaurant, welcomes local and national live entertainment to its storied stages.
